I'm so proud of the readers we have become this year. We are really diving into Nonfiction text now. We have been pouring through nonfiction text and finding the features and what the purpose for those features. Today we worked with a partner to create our own chart of features we found and added the purpose. Here is some of our work.

These boys are thinking hard about what they are finding.

Today we went outside to bird watch for 15 minutes and see how many different kinds of birds we would see and how many of each kind. Each student was given a recording sheet to record their sightings. What a great day it was for this activity. We saw blackbirds, a cardinal, sparrows, and 1 robin. We had so much I think we are going to have to put a bird feeder outside our window so we can do more research. Enjoy the pictures.

Wow! I can't believe it's November already.  Last month was such a busy month it really flew right by. We went to the pumpkin patch, watched two plays, had a pep rally, kicked off the Recycle Bowl, and ended by having the Aggie football players come read to us on Friday. Whew!!!

Tomorrow, November 6th we will be having our very own election here at APS. Students will vote for their favorite mascot. The Chick-fil-A cow or Sparky the Dog. Today one of the candidates visited our school. Sparky the dog came by and we got our picture made with him. Thanks Sparky!!

Johnny Appleseed Week

This week we are celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday. Ask your child some facts they learned about Johnny Appleseed. We made an anchor chart today of facts we have learned and made cute little apples to decorate around it. I will post a picture soon.

Remember to send in your decorated apple for the apple project. We have a ghost and 2 jack-o-lanterns so far. I will post pictures at the end of the week of our creative apples.

Also, don't forget to send an apple with your child. We will doing an Apple Investigation during math one day.
